“The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.” That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854:
Mother Mary was formed Immaculate and holy by the hands of our Heavenly Father to carry the living word of God. She was preserved from the stains of original sin by the merits of Jesus Christ. “For it was you who formed my inward parts;you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Ipraise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.” (Psalms 139:13-14)
To become the mother of the Savior, Mary “was enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a role. The Father blessed Mary more than any other created person “in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” and chose her “in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him in love”. (CCC 490&492)
Let’s call her “Blessed” with all generations and with heaven and earth as she proclaimed in Magnificat. Mother Mary, Immaculate Heart Pray for us.
